VA tidbits newsletter time!🎉

Happy New Year everyone! Let’s make 2024 thriving!

In this issue I’ll dive into:

  • Nailing a client discovery call with a few easy tips
  • A list of discovery call questions to ask
  • Using video messaging to stand out

Nailing the discovery call 🛠

A client discovery call is detrimental in building your business. While you got that initial hook in, the prospective client agreed to meet, this is the first step in getting them to sign. You can take a warm or even cold lead and turn them into a deal with a great call. Contrarily, you can take a hot lead and drive them away with a bad call.

Let’s talk some top tips to nailing that call and landing the client.

My number one greatest tip is this: find the hurt.

We call it the discovery call for a reason. You are discovering what their hurt is. What’s their problem? They obviously have one because they are looking for help. If you can discover that hurt, that pain point, you have your golden ticket.

After you’ve figured out what their hurt is, their problems, solve them. Show them how you will take away that hurt. How you will fix that problem. This is how you offer value to them as a business. Value is a big ding word. Someone hears, “I can be of value to you by solving your exploding inbox problem” and boom, they’re hooked.

I HATE sounding salesy. I don’t like being another pitch they are sitting through. But I love offering value. I love helping and showing them how I can do just that.

So, how do you find the hurt? Ask questions! Questions like:

  • What are some tasks you hate doing?
  • What are tasks that are taking you way too long to get done?
  • If you could offload one or two tasks, what would they be?
  • What are your goals with your business?

Simple questions that will yield a lot of important answers.

That’s it. It really is that simple.

Takeaways 🎁

Just one takeaway today. If you google help on discovery calls, most of the info out there that I’ve found is pretty salesy focused, and that’s just not me and not what I promote. But, I did find a checklist that had a few good question suggestions. Hopefully it helps!

Vendor Recommendation📞

I love using video emails! It’s a huge way to add a very unique, personalized touch to all client communication. Every client I’ve spoked with, whether they’ve signed or not, have made a point to say how amazed and impressed they were with my video messages.

In the digital world, it’s massively helpful to find a way to stand out. There’s a few options, but I use BombBomb.
